Who we are and why we do this

Emma set up musico south in 2011, after she'd struggled to find the perfect piano teacher for her daughter. musico south london has grown from there, and we've kept focused on providing a friendly, professional, and expert service to busy people trying to find great music teachers in South London.

Emma's worked around music and education for most of her career, previously heading arts and music education policy for the Government, where she helped set up Youth Music, the Artsmark scheme for schools, and Creative Partnerships, a programme putting artists in schools.

Emma cares passionately about the importance and value of learning music, at any age, as a fantastic skill, a fun social activity, and a source of lifelong joy. As the mum of a pianist/cellist, Emma's saw the self-confidence children get from overcoming the challenges in mastering an instrument, learning the discipline of regular practice, and the magic of playing with friends and performing.

We had our first lesson with Victoria today and we are delighted so far. My daughter really enjoyed the lesson, we covered more than I thought possible, and Victoria’s enthusiasm is great. Thanks again for setting everything up.
