If you're taking ABRSM graded exams, you'll need to pass your Grade 5 Theory to progress to the higher instrumental grades. We'd always recommend integrated learning about music theory from the earliest age, as you learn your instrument. But as you head towards Grade 5, you may find some specialist tuition on theory will be helpful. We have excellent theory tutors who have all studied music theory to degree level, and are brilliant at explaining its complexities in an understandable, easy-to-grasp style.
For more advanced students, including students taking GCSE or A level music, our expert tutors can also provide support where needed.
Of course, understanding the theory of music isn't only something you do to pass exams - it's about helping you become a rounded musician, and will help with composition, transcription, music production, and other musical skills, so if you're interested in theory and how music works, do get in touch.
